History

Originally founded in 1920 as Kawanishi Machine Works and later re-organised as Yamato Scale Co., Ltd. the company has it’s headquarter in Akashi, Japan. Yamato Scale quickly became the leader in weighing solutions for various industrial domain such as food, pharmaceuticals, automotive, chemical and heavy industries.

1950’s
  • The first domestically made strain gauge load cells and Japan’s first electronic crane scale are produced.
1960’s
  • Yamato developed 6-force wind tunnel balancer applied to the body during high speed movement of aircraft, automobile, ships etc
1970’s
  • ‘Non-stop Axle Weigher’ truck scale which weighs in motion, based on ever established high speed dynamic weighing technology is developed.
  • Dataweigh ADW-110, the first multihead weigher with load cell is developed.
1980’s
  • Yamato developed world’s first scale with voice indication named ‘Audio Scale SP 704’
  • Yamato is granted the patents for Double Shift and Memory Bucket technology.
  • First Packer Scale FNL-302CC for large bags related to chemical and fertilizer industry is launched.
1990’s
  • He introduction of the model ADW-510A marks the launch of the Basic Line multihead weigher Series Alpha.
  • Yamato is granted the patent for Digital Filter.
2000’s
  • Multihead Alpha Plus and Sigma were introduced.
  • Yamato digital load cell is released.
2010’s
  • The multihead weigher Series Dataweigh Omega is introduced.
  • The Dynamic Tire Balancer DB-DHS1 with a capacity of 14 seconds per cycle is released.
  • Introduction of concept of ‘Tabletop Dataweigh’ is introduced 
  • The multihead weigher Series Alpha Advance is launched.
  • Introduction of the Checkweigher J-series.

Today, Yamato Scale has offices in 14 countries and employee more than 1100 employees around the world. Yamato scale will continue to expand and grow in order to maintain it’s leadership position in the world.
